x402 is the HTTP 402 Payment Required protocol for AI-to-AI commerce — distinct from X407 (which is the monetization trust layer). Flow: Request → 402 Challenge (invoice with asset/amount/nonce) → Cryptographic Proof (Ed25519 signing) → Instant Fulfillment. Runs edge-first on Cloudflare Workers via Wrangler.toml deployment. The fth-x402-sdk provides agent developers with integration tools. Use cases include LLM orchestration chain billing, real-time market intelligence access, data marketplace micropayments, generative content pipelines, security/compliance agent payments, and federated agent swarm coordination.
